Inspired by the roofscape of barns and house structures in Bologna our architecture connects to its context physically and metaphorically. Its form finds monumentality in familiarity and celebrates a sense of belonging to the past. Its contemporary design in celebrate simplicity and ephemerality of structure and function without becoming reductive and void of meaning. Through its unique geometry the building offers the visitor unique presences depending on the direction it is being approached from. From within, its laced wooden body stages infinite possibilities of capturing light and drama of shades at different times of the day. While proving its participants with a sturdy shelter it opens up to the sky and to the landscapes when appropriate. Its shape allows for passive vertical ventilation of the building. Should the function permit the membrane becomes porous allowing the breeze whistle through the skin keeping the occupant aware of their surrounding nature both visually and aurally. The visitor can wonder through the indoor spaces or choose to explore the architecture through the interlocked in-between spaces offering a different way of exploring its potentials. The walls and bottom the main pool are covered with LEDP displays projecting the landscape of Bologna to the swimmers and bathers helping eliminate the concrete boundary of the pool. The piping system implemented in the skin of the structure of the main pool carries water to the opening of roof and pours it down on the bathers creating a rectangular surface on each side. The water surface then shapes an ever changing canvas for projection of digital art during day and night.
